The name «Polotsk manuscript» unites all the old music that was found in Belarus - in monasteries, orthodox churches during restorations and destruction or in chronicle, between the pages of which were hidden manuscripts.
In the program «Polotsk manuscript» by «Khoroshki» ensemble, several compositions are hits of that time. But, basically, these are unused earlier creations. Characters of choreographic mini-performances seem to have come down from ancient canvases and engravings. These are the mighty magnates of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and ordinary citizens, artisans, vagabonds and beggars, and wandering actors...
The sound of old musical instruments: lyres, zhaleyka, fife, zither - fills the atmosphere of the performance with the breath of a distant era.
The play becomes a dialogue of the Past and the Present ... A dialogue in which the national consciousness of Belarusians is filled with pride for its history and culture, thanks to our outstanding ancestors.
